Inspiration
It’s pretty wet here in the Netherlands. So I decided to think about gameplay and story a bit. I wanted to get some facts straight about the region the game would take place in. It’s based on the Achterhoek located in the east of the Netherlands. However it’s not always clear what does and what doesn’t belong to that region.

The answer to that question is still vague. It all depends on how you look at the region. So in the end it doesn’t matter what I decide and I will probably choose the bigger "defined" area.

I do have two nice additional resources or references if you will. One includes a picture gallery with stunning photos taken in the Achterhoek. Definitely will look at some of those for when I am making the end screen graphics.

That also motivates me to really make the game the way I thought up months ago. With the main game being seen from above. With parallaxing that really adds something. At least I got really excited when I saw it happen yesterday again when testing that mouse stuff. But then the end screen showing everything from the side. Which enables me to show the Achterhoek for what it is known for.

Story
The story is a difficult one still. Not sure if I can do it myself. But on the other hand I want to keep it very simple and short. I think it would be fun if the people in the game world settle everything by rally races for some reason. It’s the only way I can think of to incorporate random rally races into a story. Otherwise you would have just a championship of the region or something. But that sounds boring to me. I want this game to have energy. Like everything sort of screams "Let’s go!", if you get what I mean. If not, you’ll just have to wait and see haha.

So in the end I am excited about where the game is headed. Still a LOT is missing and I definitely need to get to gameplay as soon as possible! My goal is to be done with engine coding at the end of this first quarter. After that it should be all about gameplay and graphics. Getting a demo done to playtest. While immediately getting all systems and menus in there to play through the whole game sooner rather than later. It all depends on that milestone if I can get the game done by this year.
